Social Media Amplification Programs
Purpose
Social platforms help organizations to interact with prospective customers, to
connect with their existing customers, to increase awareness about their brand,
and to boost leads and sales. More than three billion people around the world use
social media every month, and it is not a good idea to ignore them.
Social media should be a vital component of establishing, managing and
maintaining company and product brand and reputation. A consistent strategy for
engaging on social media platforms must be designed to build awareness,
communicate authority, show authenticity, and encourage engagement. Let’s
examine each of these goals one by one.
Awareness
If people don’t know about you, it is difficult for them to become your customers.
Social media boosts your visibility among potential customers, letting you reach a
wider audience than is possible by communicating to your existing customers by
email or by engaging in events. Social media, in conjunction with other traditional
marketing activities, can help to grow awareness of your company and its
products, which make it easier for your sales team to convert leads into sales.
Authority
Customers are increasingly savvier and more discerning about which
organizations they support. Before making a purchasing decision, they’ll search
the web and browse your website and social media. What will they find: an empty
storefront or a rich source of information?
Engaging regularly on social media with thought leadership, technical advice, and
analysis of technology news and events, can build your company and brand
authority. A positive first impression through social media can help to indicate that
your business is trustworthy, knowledgeable, and approachable.
Authenticity
Customers are not interested in dry, corporate-style social media posts, nor are
they interested in constantly being sold to. A social media presence that
communicates to the market it serves will be viewed as a place for authentic
information on that market (e.g. data management).
Engagement
Social channels will evolve over time, but a constant goal for a social media
strategy should be to encourage interaction with users of the platforms you
engage with. This means regularly and consistently posting new and fresh content.
And it means experimenting with different ways to engage including text, audio
and video.
Social platforms have successfully broken down the barriers between companies
and their customers. Instead of calling a customer service line, many people turn
to Twitter to solve problems or find information. As such, it is imperative that your
social media channels are monitored for such interactions to develop a reputation
as a responsive, caring brand by offering support through social channels:
Components of a Social Media Amplification Program
To bolster your social media presence, Mullins Consulting, Inc. can provide the
following services to integrate with your existing efforts.
Blogging - blog posts can be scheduled for publication on the Data & Technology
Today blog, the Db2 Porrtal blog, and/or your company blog. Posts will vary
between 500 to 1,500 words based on the topic, which will be database-focused
and vary between thought leadership, technical overviews, and news coverage.
Your company can offer guidance on topics to be covered and all posts can be
cross-posted to your company’s blog site.
LinkedIn - Craig Mullins will use his LinkedIn account (over 13,575 followers
predominantly in the field of database systems, Db2, data management, and
mainframe computing), to amplify your content. Every blog post authored by Craig
Mullins (as described in the Blogging section above) will be promoted on LinkedIn
on Craig’s page. Additionally, every blog post will be promoted separately during
the quarter to 3 additional LinkedIn groups as appropriate based on the content
of the blog.
Furthermore, Craig will boost LinkedIn coverage of any other blog posts made by
your company during the year by sharing them on his LinkedIn page. You can also
request Craig to promote other specific content (webinar and event promotion, for
example) on LinkedIn (maximum of one request per week).
Twitter/X - Craig Mullins will use his Twitter account aka X (currently over 8,400
followers predominantly in the field of database systems, data management, and
mainframe computing), to amplify your content.
Every blog post authored by Craig Mullins (as described in the Blogging section
above) will be posted to Craig’s followers. Three posts for each blog post will be
scheduled such that they will appear during prime viewing and social engagement
periods across the three primary geographies (North America, Europe/EMEA, and
Asia-Pacific).
Furthermore, Craig will re-post each of your company’s relevant posts to his
followers, once upon their publication. Additionally, you can request Craig to
promote other specific content (webinar and event promotion, for example) via
Twitter/X.
Facebook - Although Facebook is not a primary vehicle for business social media
interaction, there are Facebook groups dedicated to business-related subject
matter. Specifically, every blog post authored by Craig Mullins (as described in the
Blogging section above) will be shared to the following Facebook pages/groups:
•
